Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
